Seeking Support for Mobility Devices During ApeFest in Lisbon

As I look forward to attending ApeFest in Lisbon, I want to share my journey in seeking assistance for mobility devices that will help me fully enjoy this vibrant city. After exploring Google Maps, I noticed that many of Lisbon's streets are old and charming, featuring cobblestones and narrow sidewalks. While this historical beauty is part of what makes the city special, which will be challenging for someone with limited mobility like myself

:(

I truly want to immerse myself in the community events and experiences that ApeFest has to offer, but navigating the city is a barrier. Having access to additional medical devices would make an impact for me to move around without the constant worry of obstacles in my path.

My previous experiences traveling with my own mobility devices have been traumatic. There have been times when airlines have broken my equipment, held it for weeks for repairs, or even lost vital parts of my wheelchair or scooter. These incidents have not only caused me significant financial strain but have also left me feeling vulnerable and anxious about my mobility. It’s a lot to carry, and I would love to enjoy this trip without that added burden.

Receiving assistance with mobility devices during ApeFest would not just make my trip easier; it would truly enhance my experience and allow me to engage more fully with everyone around me. It would be a meaningful way to highlight the spirit of October as Disability Awareness Month, reminding us all of the importance of inclusivity and understanding within our community.

What type of support is needed?

1. Mobility Device - Scooter Rental

2. Mobility Transportation - Large Vehicle (Uber XL) or other to transport

I’m sharing this in hopes of fostering a compassionate dialogue around accessibility issues in Lisbon. Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued, regardless of their mobility challenges. Thank you for your support as I navigate this journey—I can’t wait to connect with others and make beautiful memories in Lisbon!
